Speaking to Esquire, Butters said Leonardo DiCaprio was “protective” of her and specifically made people tone-down their language. “When all the other guys were swearing, he would say, ‘Whoa, hey, whoa.’ And then he turned to my mom and I and he said, ‘I’m going to keep these guys in line.’ So he gave them a talking to about not swearing in front of the child.” Butters also said she loved her scenes with the late-Luke Perry, who she described as being “fatherly,” and said she gave him a piece of pottery that Perry told her he would “cherish forever.” All in all, despite some of its subject matter, Once Upon a Time In Hollywood is an oddly upbeat movie and the scenes in which Julia Butter’s character motivates Rick Dalton (DiCaprio) to overcome his self-esteem issues will make even the hardest of hearts melt a little bit. And the real-life tenderness behind-the-scenes just makes it all the more likable. Leonardo DiCaprio is not a father in real life, but it seems like if he ever became one, he’d be great at it. Once Upon a Time In Hollywood is out in theaters now.
