In a surreal and shockingly unexpected sketch, Chalamet plays a young farmhand who has to bid goodbye to his “tiny horse.” Other than a joke which suggests that the Tiny Horse will get married to AOC, this sketch avoids the animal-fucking jokes you’re kind of bracing for. SNL, as a rule, is kind of hit or miss, and the “Tiny Horse” sketch could have easily been a miss had it just gone for the obvious route. When Chalamet says “if you trust me with the hogs, you can trust me with the truth,” you kind of think you know where this is going. But you’re wrong! It’s just a song about a guy singing to his tiny horse! I’m no prude, and I love a good raunchy joke, but at the same time, it was nice that the biggest and best joke in SNL this week was Timothée Chalamet just crooning “there is he is, my tiny horse, he’s extra tiny today!”
