Thomas told TMZ— he doesn’t seem to speak to other news outlets —that not only did he think the ceremony was beautiful, but that he would always regret not being able to go. Even though the official reason behind his absence was the heart attack he’d recently suffered, many still speculated (probably correctly) that it had to do with his embarrassment over the photo flap. “I pray Harry and Meghan can go on a nice honeymoon and rest end relax,” he told TMZ, which is a nice and relatable sentiment coming from a father. But he didn’t leave it there. “And all of my relatives will just shut up about everything,” he added, a rude addendum to his prayers. It’s at least understandable. Samantha Grant, Meghan’s half-sister, told TMZ that she actually convinced her father Thomas to stage the first pictures. Thomas Jr., Meghan’s half-brother, wrote a weird letter to Prince Harry telling him that the wedding was “biggest mistake in royal wedding history,” before calling Meghan shallow and conceited. Thomas Jr. also told the Daily Mirror that his sister was a “phony,” and has been “giving the greatest performance of her life.” Given all that, it’s not unreasonable that Meghan’s dad is more than a little frustrated. His family sounds like a nightmare. On the plus side, his daughter looked very happy on Saturday, which is what matters.
