The 32-year-old Emerson College graduate joked that he was only admitted to the prestigious school because of his dad, the actor best known for his roles in Jaws and American Grafitti. Receiving over 53,000 likes so far, many people thought Dreyfuss’ tweet was hilariously spot-on—including his own mom, Jeramie Rain. “Having a dad whose name can get you into college is nice but having a mother as wonderfully supportive and sweet as @jeramiedreyfuss is way better,” he posted in a follow-up tweet, sharing a screenshot of a text conversation with his mom, who argued that Dreyfuss earned his admission on his own. Her message reads, “You got into college all by yourself… I do not believe for a second that your father got you into Emerson. You worked hard.” And Ben wasn’t the only celebrity’s son to chime in on Twitter. Donald Trump Jr. tried—and failed—to mock the scandal in a series of tweets on Tuesday in which he criticized Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman, two of the actresses facing accusations. However, unlike Ben’s response, Trump Jr.’s fell flat as people called out the president’s son for his own family’s questionable college admissions past (aka the large donations to Penn that coincidentally occurred when Trump Jr. began attending Wharton).
