According to CNN, the family of the late Jeopardy! host made a donation to honor Trebek’s legacy in a way that will have a positive impact on many. Trebek’s wardrobe will be given to The Doe Fund, which is an organization that provides continuing education, vocational training, social services, housing, and paid work to those who have a history of incarceration, addiction, and experiencing homelessness. “During his last day on set, Alex extolled the virtues of everyone opening up their hands and their hearts to those who are suffering,” Mike Richards, the game show’s executive producer, said in a press release, according to the news station....
Security product review site A Secure Life recently surveyed hundreds of parents across the country, asking them to discern their most common fears for their children. While legitimate fears topped the list (child will be hurt in an accident; someone will hurt or attack their child; their children won’t feel safe in the world), 14 percent listed kidnapping or abduction as their biggest fear. While abduction is irrefutably a heinous act that does occur in this country, the reality is that it occurs so rarely that there’s no reason a parent should feel as if it’s a lingering threat in a child’s life....

First of all, the definition of “home births” in this study, the first systematic review of the literature comparing home births to hospital births, is slippery. They fall into two distinct categories — home births that occur in well-integrated environments where women had access to licensed midwives, proper medical equipment, and a transfer plan in case of emergencies; and less well-integrated environments that don’t have these safety measures. Of the 21 studies included in the paper, only four studies looked at environments that were not well-integrated....
“Missing a serious bacterial infection in an infant can lead to severe complications, which is why physicians traditionally have been very cautious and included invasive procedures, medications, and hospitalizations when evaluating these infants,” said coauthor on the study Nathan Kuppermann, chair of emergency medicine at UC Davis School of Medicine, in a statement. Kuppermann and colleagues identified predictors of serious infection so that physicians can start sending minor cases home and aggressively treat only the most serious infections....
Usually monthly baby photoshoots show off how much their little bundle has grown and will include mentions of their milestones or their surrounded by their favorite toys. These markers of their growth and personality are adorable, but this pandemic spin is a little… weird. The same is true for Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, to an extent. Yes, we love Fred Rogers’ style, but arguably, the words he spoken, and the songs are the real reason the show is so enduring. Contemporarily, the decedent of Mister Rogers; Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, also finds its way into the hearts and minds of children through the helpful songs. And though I think some of the Daniel Tiger songs are great, it’s hard to top the originals from Fred himself....
