Viral Monster Alligator Video Proves Dinosaurs Walk Among Us

Florida this week. As if 2020 wasn’t already stressful enough, some might lose some sleep knowing that monster alligators apparently exist, according to a new viral—and frankly apocalyptic—video. On Wednesday, Nov. 11, Tropical Storm Eta, which was briefly classified as a Category 1 Hurricane, created high winds off the coast of Tampa. While tropical storms are typically a cause of concern in their own right, Eta seemed to unearth something particularly unsetting: a truly giant, dinosaur-like alligator haunting a golf course that looked as if it time-traveled directly from the primordial soup....

Want A Happier Marriage Go Pillow Shopping With Your Wife Seriously

Her tactics were, frankly, brilliant. She leveraged her ability to fall asleep quickly and early, knowing that I’d be up long after she’d gone to sleep. Inevitably, at 11 pm, I would attempt to snuggle down with my pillow only to find my wife cuddled around it, snoring daintily. She knew I would never tear it away from her. I couldn’t bring myself to be so cruel. Like many married couples, my wife and I had been battling over bed pillows for years....

“I want a new kid, Santa,” Scrappy tells Santa (played by Beck Bennett), when asked about Marshall, the boy he’s been watching over for 13 years. “He figured out how to do something with his body, and now he won’t stop doing it.” Scrappy explains to the other elves (played by Melissa Villasenor and Mikey Day) that it’s “a solo act” that really can’t be defined as either naughty or nice....

What Road To Perdition Taught Me About Leaving Legacies For Our Kids

With the wheels for a favorable review already greased, Road to Perdition more than earned a place on my list of all-time favorite movies, with sensational acting by Hanks and pretty much everyone who appears on screen (Paul Newman! Jude Law! Stanley Tucci!), Academy Award-winning cinematography, and a beautifully heartbreaking score by Thomas Newman. Not only that, the film’s story serves as a poignant meditation on fatherhood. Rewatching the movie last weekend, and now a father myself (expecting a son, no less), the film’s exploration of the father-son dynamic struck me much more deeply....

What A Black Dad Needs White Dads To Know

Now, I’ll admit that our interactions, while limited, have been somewhat awkward and I think I have an idea why. See, I’m black and you’re not and I get the feeling that you don’t really know many black people or, at least, you probably don’t have many if any black friends. That’s cool. I get it. We’re only 13 percent of the population so we may be hard to find in your social circles....

What Dads Can Learn From The Movie Eighth Grade Fatherly

From the moment Mark is on screen, it’s easy to see exactly who he is: an overly supportive, slightly dorky, but ultimately lovable single dad who has no idea how to get his daughter to look up from her phone long enough to hold anything close to a real conversation. Mark tries his best to find a space to exist in his daughter’s world but his penchant for goofy jokes and sincere words of affirmation tend to fall flat with Kayla....

What Do Most Men Really Want During Sex The Answer Is Surprising

Dr. Abraham Morgentaler understands this. He opened his first clinic in 1999 and today he is the director of Men’s Health Boston and is an associate clinical professor of urology at Harvard Medical School. When men come in to have their equipment inspected, they talk about how it’s used and how it performs. The discussion touches on all matters of sex and intimacy. And, according to Morgentaler, much of the information that flies around the four walls of the exam room stands to shatter long-standing beliefs regarding performance and the way men experience pleasure....

What I Wish I Captured More When My Kids Were Still Little

But, whether crunched for time, spread so thin we just don’t think to do so, or so in the moment we don’t want to skitter off to grab our phone, capturing memories can be a challenge. The notion of being present and in the moment of our kids’ lives is a noble one. But it can often prove difficult. It’s also hard to be in the moment and capture a memory (after all, an engaged playmate doesn’t make the best photographer)....

What Is A Sigma Male Unpacking The Latest In Male Archetypes

So, what is the sigma male? He’s a new kind of dude. He’s as powerful as an alpha but free of alpha baggage. He’s quiet but cool, a lone wolf who defies hierarchical categorization. Men obey him. Women want him. Alphas hate him because they can’t control him, but they also respect him for that very reason. Power? Status? No, thanks. He’d rather have freedom and solitude. He doesn’t dominate....

What Parents Should Do After Getting Really Angry At A Kid

The bulk of the stress is underneath the surface,” says Dr. Stephanie Smith, a clinical psychologist based in Erie, Colorado. “We’re not really paying attention, but it builds up throughout the day. What Texas Ending The Mask Mandate Means For Schools The Country

The decision of the Texas government to jump from one crisis (the deep freeze that led to the death of dozens of Texans and the institutional failure of the power companies and government) to another (a free-for-all COVID extravaganza when only 11.6 percent of Texans have had one dose of the vaccine and 1.5 million fully have been vaccinated) is confounding. The news was not just about adults going to the grocery store or bars or restaurants, however....

What To Say When Your Partner Never Follows Through

On the surface, this issue is about something not getting done, and that’s frustrating. But really this involves expectations. You know how you’d do something, and when your spouse doesn’t match that, it’s unnerving and even scary. The person you rely on isn’t there for you, and that makes you feel alone. Feel being the important word here. Any number of issues might be at play. It could be that your partner is tired, stressed, or simply preoccupied, and, in fact, the task might not be a priority, so while you want to talk about the importance of following through, the true challenge is how do you get someone to care about what you care about in the same way?...

When Do School Nurses Send Kids Home Sick When They Spread It

So what does it take to get sent home by the school nurse? Well, it depends. A trip to the school nurse doesn’t automatically result in a trip home. Some symptoms are obvious red flags; vomiting or a fever will often require a student get sent home as a matter of policy, but even if that isn’t the case, it’s a pretty strong indicator of an illness severe enough to disrupt the classroom and write off the day....
